The FK12 Comet is an ultra-light two-seat aerobatic bi-plane with an attractive durable design using modern materials.
It has good flight performance with optimised laminar flow wings with 4full length ailerons (flaperons) making it highly agile with a good view.
Due to space saving design, the wings fold down in a few minutes giving a transportation width of 2.42m.
Despite the classical looks, this aeroplane can travel long distances at speeds of up to 200kmh; engines used are Rotax 912 or 912S of 80-100hp making this aeroplane sporting and fun.
The individual design allows a 10-minute change from open cockpit single or double seat to closed cockpit double seat, enabling easy entry to both seats via hinged canopy.
Fuselage and tail are mostly fibreglass with the remainder in ceconite covering, all over a tubular steel and aluminium frame; the wings are fibreglass with aluminium flaperons, wing wires are streamlined with end fittings.
The propeller is a 3 bladed carbon type with nose cone.
Brakes are mechanically operated drum type, wheels are faired, seats are coloured carbon fibre, and fuel tank is in fuselage.
Basic instruments are: Airspeed, Altimeter, Compass, Slip Indicator, Oil Pressure and Temperature, RPM and Cylinder Head Temperature.
Main structure parts are made at the satellite factory in Krosno (Poland), by 48 staff.
Hand assembly, finishing and quality control are carried out at Speyer (Germany), in an ex. Daimler Benz Aerospace building by 7 staff.
All materials and processes used essentially meet German LN standards; the aeroplane is certified to German RFU95 standard (similar to UK BCAR section S specification).
Aircraft are supplied either fully built or in kit form (kits supplied less engine/prop, instruments and wiring).
Back-up service is available from 4 sites in Germany with further sites in 5 European states plus Brazil.
