The Solo by Aeroplanes DAR is a single seat, single engine ultralight aircraft. The Solo was designed to meet the FAR 103 and the European 120kg class rules.
DAR Solo is based on a mixed construction, composite fuselage with metal wings.
Customers can choose between 3 types of wings, 3 types of engines, and 4 types of wheels.
The Solo is only available as kit.
There are two technologies used in the DAR Solo construction:
Metal construction
Wings are built by conventional sheet metal working practice. Wing construction uses two spars,12 ribs and metal skin. All parts are cut and bent on CNC equipment. Wing assembly is designed to be simple and straightforward.
Composites
The rest of the airframe is a composite construction. Parts are made from carbon and glass fiber in temperature controlled vacuum molds. The molding process minimizes the weight of Epoxy resin required in construction, and results in lightweight but very strong parts. Sandwich construction techniques are also used to minimize weight and maximize strength. All airframe composite parts in the kit are completely finished, ready for final assembly.
